Some things you can't do without. Here's a listing of ATMs, grocery stores,
etc. E-mail us if you
have any suggestions for necessities to add here.
Grocery Store - Topps is located about one half mile south of Miramar.
Farther down Estero Blvd (about 4 miles) is a Publix store. They also have a pharmacy.
Fresh Fruit - A fresh fruit stand is about 0.2 miles south of Miramar. Great citrus fruits. You can get fresh shrimp, but see below for a better shrimp idea.
Shrimp - Turn right just over the bridge to find three fresh seafood markets. The boats bring shrimp, oysters, crab legs, etc. in through out the day. We prefer Villers Seafood Market (463-5604) but Beach Seafood Market & Grill (463-8777) and Trico Shrimp (463-3341) are also good. They have several sizes of shrimp for less than half the price of getting it in a restaurant. They will cook it for you for a fee, or bring it back to the house and boil or grill it yourself.
Drug Store - The only drug store on the north end of the island
recently closed. An Eckards is in Santini Plaza about 5 miles south of Miramar. There is also
one in the Publix grocery store about 4 miles south on Estero Blvd.
ATMs - Several are available. Your bank may charge a fee to use them. Locations include: In Times Square outside of Dairy Queen, in Topps grocery store one half mile south of Miramar, and at Primo Drive half way between Miramar and Times Square.
Post Office - One block North of Miramar in the Key Estero shops is a full service post office.
Liquor Stores - There's no shortage of these. Locations include: in Topps grocery store parking lot one half mile south of Miramar and Surf Club Liquor Store at 1204 Estero Blvd between Miramar and Times Square.
Internet Access - We have found a few places where you can access
the internet while on the island.
The public library (about a mile south on Estero Blvd.) has fast, free access. You can sign
up for an hour block in advance (463-9691) or take your chance and just show up.
Java by the Sea (across Estero Blvd from Miromar) is a cute coffee shop that allows you to
get online from your wireless laptop. (Unfortunately they no longer have computers to rent.)
The rate (as of January '04) is $3 for the first 15 minutes, then 20 cents a minute.
Surf-n-Surf.net at the Lani Kai is a internet cafe/coffee bar. They have espress, cappuccino,
etc, in a clean environment. The rate is $5/15 minutes. They will also print your digital pictures
or put them on a disk for you.
